We train volunteers for the Allies for Immigrants: ESOL Corps, which we run in partnership with Boston Cares. Volunteers support a classroom teacher, facilitate a small group in an integrated ESOL/technology skills course, lead a conversation group or citizenship class, tutor a student one-on-one, or coordinate Allies for Immigrants tutors at a program.
English for New Bostonians holds events throughout the year and frequently need volunteers to help support them in roles such as on-site registration, set-up and breakdown, and other logistics.
Help sort and prepare produce in our receiving area for sale or for kitchen use, label and package prepared foods alongside our kitchen staff, help cooks in the kitchen, stock retail shelves, stock/reorganize cooler and freezer units, or interact with customers in our food sampling/engagement area.
Assist with administrative tasks in our office.
Teach our curriculum, with resources provided by Debate Mate USA, to local students. We assign our mentors to Boston area middle schools, and you travel there to teach for one hour a week, for the duration of the program.

Assist with research, writing, planning, and communication for 5-10 hours a week. Or commit to 10-15 hours a week and take on multiple roles in different departments or a more robust role including managing projects or departments.
Assist with curriculum development and lesson planning for our English, Literacy, and Medical Spanish courses. We focus on an interactive, intensive approach to language learning with an emphasis on speaking and comprehension.
Help by tutoring adult ESOL and medical Spanish students 1-3 times per week. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about intercultural understanding, language education, and teaching. You can also work with small groups of students and facilitate interactive activities to provide the most beneficial experience for students.
Generation Citizen’s Student Leadership Board (SLB) is a 10-member team of high schoolers that supports our efforts to learn from our students’ experiences, better support alumni civic leadership development, and elevate student voice in the democracy education field. All GC alumni, ages 14-20, are encouraged to apply.
